Tenor Scott Williamson and Pianist Scott Beard to Present Recital

RADFORD – Tenor Scott Williamson and pianist Scott Beard will present a guest recital Tuesday, Oct. 30, 8 p.m., in the Norwood Room of the Bondurant Center for the Arts, 1129 East Main St., Radford. Sponsored by the Radford University Department of Music, the program theme is “And Yet Abide the World,” taken from the Emily Dickinson poem There Came a Wind Like a Bugle.

The concert features contemporary works for voice and piano by Gerald Finzi, Lee Hoiby and Robert Convery and solo piano works by Lowell Liebermann and Chinese composer Tan Dun.

Williamson and Beard have performed together since 1999. They formed the team of Duo Nuovo which is dedicated to the performance of contemporary works for piano and voice. Williamson has been a musician for Opera Roanoke and is the winner of the 2005 International Opera Singers Competition. Beard is associate professor of music and coordinator of keyboard studies at Shepherd University.
