Theatre and Cinema Department Presents How to Make a Monster 101

RADFORD – The Radford University Department of Theatre and Cinema will present How to Make a Monster 101 on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 7 p.m., in Pridemore Playhouse, Porterfield Hall.

Part of RU’s Cinema Symposium series, the presentation is an illustrated “how to” directed by theatre and cinema professor Ted McKosky and features many of the big screen’s most memorable monsters. McKosky says, “From Varney to Vlad to Mel, from Dippel to Shelly to the Terminator, from slow zombies to fast zombies, all of the unusual suspects will be there. So start saving your eye of newt, bolts and trusty electrodes.”

Filmmaker Shea Sizemore, an RU student who studied under McKosky, will present his latest film an Occupato as part of the program.  The production is a humorous spin on a concept associated with horror film genius Alfred Hitchcock and McKosky says, “You will never look at a porta-john the same again.”

Admission is free and open to the public. To learn more, call the Department of Theatre and Cinema at (540) 831-5141 or e-mail McKosky at tmckosky@radford.edu.
