Film Instructor Ted McKosky Part of Virginia Film Festival

RADFORD – Radford University theatre and cinema faculty member Ted McKosky and screenwriter Stewart Stern hosted a shot-by-shot workshop at the recent Virginia Film Festival in Charlottesville. The festival theme was “Kin Flicks” and explored family relationships through cinema.

Stewart Stern and Ted McKoskyMcKosky collaborated with Stern for a series of presentations on the film classic Rebel Without A Cause. Stern, who wrote the script for Rebel, was a close confidant of Hollywood icon James Dean. The workshop was presented to a sold-out audience. Stern read from his copy of the original screenplay as highlights from the film were shown.

McKosky and Stern explored similar elements of the “lost boys” that were prevalent in Peter Pan and Rebel Without a Cause.  Stern introduced a special screening of the 1924 Paramount Studios version of Peter Pan featuring live musical accompaniment from Charlottesville musicians and schoolchildren.

“Stewart Stern is a wonderful, knowledgeable and generous person whom I now may call a friend,” McKosky said.

This was the ninth year McKosky has been a presenter at the festival.
