Business Etiquette and Dining Protocol Events Offered for RU Students
RADFORD -- Experiential Learning and Career Services along with Chartwells Dining Service are offering students an opportunity to learn the business etiquette and dining skills necessary toward securing future employment during two energetic and fast-paced sessions on April 8. The evening begins with a seminar, Business Etiquette for Professional Success, from 4 to 5 p.m. in the Russell Hall auditorium and concludes with the Protocol Dinner at 6:30 p.m. in Muse Dining Hall. Tickets for the Protocol Dinner are $10. Students may pay by check or cash. All proceeds from the dinner will be donated to a local charity. Tickets may be purchased at the Career Services office, located in Walker Hall 279. Protocol Dinner registration is open first to seniors. Remaining tickets will be made available to all other students. Topics at the business etiquette session will include how to make an entrance and work a room, introducing yourself and others, handshaking and eye contact, gender issues, business cards and dressing for the professional world. Seating is limited for the business etiquette session, and only the first 70 students to register will participate. The Protocol Dinner includes a second session, Dining Skills: Be at Ease During an Interview Meal - or When Dining with Your New Boss. Business entertaining, guest duties, silverware savvy, excusing oneself from the table, food allergies and toasting will be discussed. Kathleen Harshberger of the KHH School of Protocol will conduct both sessions, and questions will be answered throughout.
