RU Graduate To Appear Thursday Night on New A&E Crime Series

RADFORD -- Radford University alumna Faith Flippo can be seen in the premiere episode of a new real-life police investigation TV series Thursday at 10 p.m. on A&E.

A 2001 graduate of the Criminal Justice Department, Flippo was a member of the Richmond Police Department's forensics unit when A&E filmed the first show of Crime 360, which involves a homicide investigation. In Thursday's episode, Flippo is seen opening a car trunk when homicide investigators arrive and taking photographs of the crime scene. Flippo also is interviewed on the show. A video clip on the A&E Web site features scenes involving Flippo.

Flippo was promoted from the forensics unit from the Richmond Police Department to sergeant in July and appeared only in the first episode. Crime 360 focuses on technology used during crime scene investigation in two cities, Richmond and Cleveland and employs extensive computer-generated imagery to re-create crime scenes.

The series follows investigators in the two cities from the beginning of a homicide case through its conclusion.

"Being on the show was more of a responsibility than an enjoyment because, as a forensic detective, I was trying to collect the evidence and get it packaged, examined and into the lab as quick as possible," Flippo said. "After the case was submitted to the lab and all of my work was done, then it was kind of neat. We were all loaded up with microphones and cameras were everywhere.  It was neat to see how they took our homicide case and turned it into a pretty neat show."
