Thursday is RU Advocacy Day in Richmond

RADFORD -- A contingent from RU is in Richmond today making their voices heard to the leadership of state government. A group of 35 students, President Penelope W. Kyle, faculty, senior staff, and board of visitors members are meeting with Governor Tim Kaine and other state executives on RU's annual Student Advocacy Day.

In addition to scheduled meetings, RU students are encouraged to meet individually with their respective senators and delegates and develop relationships with them to solicit support for the university.

Junior Jordan Draper, the Student Government Association legislative action coordinator, has been actively planning the students' visit, which also includes communications training and a tour of the renovated state capitol building to round out the valuable educational experience.

All RU students will be wearing the traditional bright red turtlenecks in a display of unity and as an expression of pride in their university.
