Cinema Presentation Showcases the Marx Brothers

RADFORD – “Why a Duck?” a question posed by the infamous Chico Marx in the movie The Cocoanuts, will be the topic of discussion for Radford University’s spring cinema symposium ‘Marx-ist’ Cinema 101: Duck Soup” on  Wednesday, Feb. 6, at 7 p.m., in Pridemore Playhouse, Porterfield Hall.

RU theatre and cinema director Ted McKosky says if an answer exists, “it may be found in what many consider to be the Marx Brothers’ finest hour.” In the words of Chico’s brother Groucho, “Take two turkeys, one goose, four cabbages, but no duck, and mix them together. After one taste, you’ll duck soup the rest of your life.”

The cinema symposium has limited seating. Reservations should be made at the Porterfield Box Office during the week of the show. Admission is free and open to the public. To learn more, call the theatre and cinema department at (540) 831-5141.
