Division of Information Technology Will Increase University Bandwidth
RADFORD -- To meet the university’s growing internet bandwidth needs, the Division of Information Technology will increase bandwidth across campus. The week of Feb. 4 has been targeted for the university’s bandwidth to increase from 90 megabits to 200 megabits. In the meantime, the IT staff activated an additional 45 megabit connection to increase the current bandwidth to 135 megabits. “Although we believe that 200 megabits of bandwidth will be adequate for the spring semester, we realize that additional bandwidth will be needed in the near future,” says Vice President for Information Technology Danny Kemp. “We are currently exploring several long term strategies and partnerships that will allow us to quickly and cost effectively increase our bandwidth as the need arises,” says Kemp. See Internet Bandwidth Update for more information. |
