Appalachian Awareness Day is February 15 at RU

RADFORD – Appalachian Awareness Day is Friday, Feb. 15, 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., in Radford University’s Hurlburt Hall Auditorium. This annual event, sponsored by the Appalachian Events Committee, is free and open to the public.

The schedule is as follows:

10 a.m. - Opening session with traditional Appalachian music

11 a.m. - Lecture by Mary Anne Hitt, mountain top removal activist

Noon - Concert by RU’s Own featuring the music of Ricky Cox, Ben Gilmer and Marshall Page

1 p.m. – Concert by The Wolfe Brothers String Band

2 p.m. – Storytelling by Andrenna Belcher

3 p.m. -  Concert by Olen Smythers and Friends
