RADFORD -- Radford University criminal justice major Elizabeth Chitwood will attend the Democratic National Convention Aug. 25 - 28 in Denver. Chitwood, a Pulaski native, was elected to be a delegate at the Ninth Congressional District Convention in a competitive race where two men and two women were chosen to represent the district.

Chitwood plans to attend the convention proceedings where she will listen to speeches by Democratic Party leaders. “Also, I will attend meetings where the topics will be focused more on rural issues, women's issues and youth issues,” says Chitwood. “My career goal is to attend law school and hopefully open up my own practice in Southwest Virginia. My life goal includes continuing my work in politics, because hopefully between law and politics, I can make a difference, especially in Southwest Virginia,” says Chitwood.
