Radford University Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau Turns 25
RADFORD -- The Radford University Epsilon Psi Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. Sigma Theta Tau is the only honorary nursing society and is dedicated to supporting the learning, knowledge and professional development of nurses committed to making a difference in health worldwide. More than 50 guests and approximately 15 charter members were in attendance during the event, including Elizabeth Nelson, a 92-year-old charter member. The RU chapter supports scholarly projects and research conducted by students and nursing faculty. The organization recently inducted the top one-third of undergraduate nursing students and graduate students who have a minimum GPA of 3.5. Outstanding community leaders nominated by members were also eligible for induction. Kathleen LaSala, director of the RU School of Nursing and an original charter member, said induction into the organization represents a hallmark in the career of nursing students. “The organization is a highly honored group that supports the development of scholarship in students and professionals, with chapters all over the nation and in many countries,” she said. “The organization provides a venue for support and dissemination of scholarship through one of the most recognized nursing publications and conferences across the world.” (In the photo below: Left to right: Sally Strauss, Jan Mooney, Sarah Gilbert, Kate Brennan, Leonita Cutright, Trish Conklin, Ginger Burggraf (with Willie Nelson), Kereen Mullenbach, Debbie Bratton, Sharon O'Donnell.)
