New Summer Geology Courses Available in Association
with the Virginia Museum of Natural History

RADFORD -- Want to dig for dinosaurs this summer? Two new summer field courses in the Department of Geology will allow interested students to do just that.

In association with The Virginia Museum of Natural History, the department is offering Vertebrate Paleontology Field Techniques for undergraduate students (GEOL 498) and graduate students (GEOL 691). Students will travel to Wyoming to learn field techniques used by vertebrate paleontologists in documenting and excavating vertebrate fossils.

The one-week (one credit hour) or two-week (two credit hours) course will include excavation techniques, making field jackets, field identification of specimens and documentation of collections, including field notes and mapping.

The two courses run concurrently from June 2 - 6 and June 9 - 13. Registration should be completed by Thursday, May 15, to participate in this experience. To learn more, contact Steve Lenhart at slenhart@radford.edu.
