RU To Offer Arabic Language Classes Beginning in the Fall
RADFORD -- The Institute of International Education has selected RU to host a Fulbright foreign language teaching assistant during the 2008-09 academic year. The teaching assistant placement allows RU to offer two sections in Arabic language during the fall and spring semesters.
Fulbright teaching assistants are placed on more than 300 U.S. college and university campuses annually, often to help introduce such languages as Arabic, Russian, Chinese, Japanese and Portuguese. The Council on the International Exchange of Scholars also will place a Fulbright Scholar in Residence at RU for the 2008-09 academic year. The university has requested a scholar with expertise in the fields of political science and philosophy and religious studies. The FLTA program is renewable each year. In addition to the courses, RU’s International Education Center is planning an Arab cultures festival to run through the 2008 - 2009 academic year, sponsored by the McGlothlin Family Endowment.
