International Week Begins April 7 at RU

RADFORD -- Radford University will host its 17th annual International Week celebration April 7 - 12.  Everyone is invited to “Spring into Diversity” as the RU community experiences many parts of the world in this weeklong celebration of diversity. It’s an opportunity to experience different cultures through music, dance, food and fellowship.

International students from many parts of the world have joined together to make this an exciting week of cultural activities, including a Caribbean Night and a Night in Japan. Mark your calendar for these events:

Monday, April 7, 6 p.m., Cook 107
International Week Kick-Off -- Everyone is invited to help kick off International Week at a meet and greet with International faculty, staff, and students. Co-sponsored by NAACP and Sigma Gamma Rho.

Tuesday, April 8, 5:30 p.m., Waldron Hall 226
“Italian Night” -- Experience the culture, language, and festivities of Italy!·

Wednesday, April 9, 6-8 p.m., Outside in the Bonnie courtyard
“Caribbean/Latino Festival” -- Come join the carnival-like atmosphere and excitement with Caribbean/Latino music and dance. Co-sponsored by La Sociedad Hispanica.

Thursday, April 10, 6-8 p.m., McGuffey 206
“A Night In Japan” -- Experience the culture of Japan through traditional songs, a tea ceremony, dance, flower arranging, food tasting, a sushi making demonstration, origami and calligraphy.

Saturday, April 12, 6-9 p.m., Muse Banquet Hall
International Banquet and Variety Show -- an evening filled with fun, food, music and dancing from all over the world. Come taste the spices and excitement of authentic foods from Ethiopia, Bulgaria, Denmark, Korea, Ghana and more. There will be a variety of entertainment, including music and dance that showcases the cultures of RU international students.

Events held Monday through Thursday are free. Tickets for the International Banquet are available at RU’s Hurlburt Student Center Information Desk. Tickets per person are: public $10; faculty/staff $8; students with RU ID $5; and $5 for children under 12.
