Radford University Foundation -- Gifts at Work

Give NowYour gifts to Radford University work in numerous ways toward improving the lives of students and the community. It can give a student the resources they need to begin a promising career. It can help a faculty member show students a life beyond the classroom.  Or it can grow and mature as part of an endowment and strengthen the University for years to come.

The results of gifts to RU can be seen in our student’s successes.  They are grateful for the opportunities a Radford education affords them, and they understand that it comes from the generosity of donors like you.

“Many are blessed with a person or persons, aside from family members, with whom they attribute a level of their success. Without these people, the academic lows, financial woes, and family difficulties faced may not be easily overcome. Directly or indirectly, that person’s presence is there when the need is great. No price tag is attached, no fee is required, and more often than not, no request of that person is made.  These special people take time from their personal responsibilities to help sponsor another. I thank you unconditionally, for your contribution will not only assist in my career, but has undoubtedly placed you in a rare and special category.” -- Jasmine Elmore, recipient of the Paul W. Harris Leadership Scholarship.

Abercrombie Receives Prestigious McGowan Scholarship

Nicole SzellRadford University junior management major Juliann Abercrombie, daughter of Bowie and Brenda Abercrombie of Ashburn, has been awarded the prestigious McGowan Scholarship by the RU College of Business and Economics.

The scholarship was made possible by the William G. McGowan Charitable Fund, which awarded the College of Business and Economics a scholarship grant covering up to one year’s tuition.

“I am honored to have been selected for this generous award,” said Abercrombie. “William McGowan was a true leader in the business field and showed that just about anything is possible with hard work, perseverance and devotion to a dream. These are lessons I will value and carry with me throughout my academic and professional career.”

Abercrombie has been a visible member of the RU community. She is a student representative to the RU Board of Visitors, the vice president of student finance in the Student Government Association, a committee member of the Student Affairs Executive Council and an international member of the Society for the Advancement of Management. Abercrombie plans to enroll in graduate school and work in the field of human resources following her graduation from RU.

The William G. McGowan Scholars program encourages leadership, interpersonal skills and a significant involvement in campus and community activities. It also recognizes excellence of character, a spirit of innovation and entrepreneurial potential. Scholarships are awarded to selected accredited college and university business schools. William G.
