Five Highlanders Place in the Top-Ten at VT Challenge

Blacksburg, Va. - Radford track and field had five Highs to place in the top-ten at the VT Challenge. The meet was a two day event held in Blacksburg, Va. at Rector Field House on the campus of Virginia Tech.

Sophomore thrower Brian Richotte (Berkley, Mich.) broke the school record by three feet in the weight throw with a distance of 65'07.40". He placed fourth in the event.

In the running events the Highs' Quentin Preston (Martinsville, Va.) set a new school record in the 55 meter dash and clocked a time of 6.41 in the preliminaries. The previous record held by Brandon Huntley was set at 6.53.

Joel Hanlon (Winchester, Va.) landed tenth in the mile run with a time of 4:17.60.

On the women's side, Tiffany Evans (Dumfries, Va.) placed fifth (58'03.60) and eighth (44'08.20") in the weight throw and the shot put respectively. Teammate Ashley Camden (Corunna, Ontario, Canada) finished tenth in the weight throw and 11th in the shot put.

In the 5000 meter run Daphne Propst (Crimora, Va.) notched ninth place and finished with a time of 20:14.66.

The Highlanders will compete at the Big South Indoor Conference Championships next weekend February 19. The meet will be held on the campus of Virginia Tech at Rector Field House.
