LEXINGTON, Va. -- Five individuals and the 4x400 relay team set new school records, while Goran Nava (Castello Brianza, Italy) took home top honors for Radford University as they competed at the Father Diamond Invitational, hosted by George Mason University.
In winning the one mile, Nava set a school record with a time of 4:15.59. Latoya Noel (Beligshape, Belgium), Amy Gediman (Midlothian, Va.), and Charles Musindu (Falls Church, Va.) each posted top five finishes, while setting school records in their respective events. Noel, finishing tied for third in the high jump, improved on her own record with a distance of 1.65m. Gediman placed fourth in the 800 (2:21.56) and Musindu fifth in the weight throw (48'09.00").
Antoine Woods (Woodbridge, Va.) in the 60 meter hurdles and the 4x400 relay team of Rochelle Black (Virginia Beach, Va.), Chris Reiser (Buena, N.J.), Andre McMillan (Newark, Del.) and Jay Moore (Richmond, Va.) also set school records with times of 8.80 and 3:22.24 respectively.
Tim Dutton (Virginia Beach, Va.), Abdi Dubed (Arlington, Va.) and Tricia Coughlin (Penacook, N.H.) also posted fifth place finishes. Dutton and Dubed in the 3,000 (8:56.57) and one mile (4:24.30), while Couglin tied for fifth in the high jump (1.60m).
The Highlanders will be in Boone, N.C. on Jan. 17 and18 for the Appalachian State Invitational.
