Track and Field Has Strong Showing at Virginia State Alumni Meet Perisburg, Va. At Virginia State’s Alumni Meet this past weekend, Radford’s Women’s and Men’s Track and Field teams finished second (119) and third (83) respectively at the Virginia State Alumni Meet. The Highlanders combined for eight wins and a total of 15 top-three finishes and broke one school record in the men’s 4x400 relay. For the women, Heide Harrison picked up a pair of wins in the 1500 and 3000 meter runs. Other firsts were turned in by Tricia Benson in the 5000 meters, Tiffany McLaughlin (Virginia Beach, Va.) in the long jump, Maurika Quarles (Mannassas, Va.) in the 400 hurdles, Natasha Tyler (Columbia, S.C.) in the 400 dash and the 4x400 relay. Latoya Noel (Columbia, S.C.) turned in two third place finishes in the 400 hurdles and high jump. The men’s 4x400 team broke the school record for the second straight meet, clocking in with a time of 3:21.71, .13 seconds faster than the old record. Goran Nava (Castello Brianza, Italy) and Rochelle Black (Virginia Beach, Va.) picked victories in the 800 and high jump respectively. Black also place second in the 400 hurdles. Andrew Jackman (Somerworth, N.H.) and Adam Faulkner (Bland, Va.) also turned in second place performances in the 1500 meters and javelin respectively, while Brian Lambert took third in the 800. This Saturday, April 6, at 11:00 a.m., Radford University will be hosting their inaugural track and field meet at the University’s new outdoor facility.
