Highlanders in Fifth and Seventh Place After Day Two
Four School Records Fall

Lynchburg, Va. - After two days of competition at the Big South Championships, Radford women's (22 points) and men's (20 points) track and field teams are sitting in fifth and seventh place respectively.

Two Highlanders sposted second place finishes with new school records on day two. Andrew Jackman finished two seconds behind Winthrop's Lucas McCurdy in the 3000 steeplechase, breaking his own school record with a time of 9:31.90. Tiffany McLaughlin also broke her own record, posting a distance of 5.77 meters (18-11.25) in the long jump.

Also picking up points for the men were Tony Hash and Jared Saunders in the long jump, finishing fifth (new school record 7.01m, 23-00.00) and seventh (6.85m, ) respectively. Jason Armentrout finished seventh in the hammer with a throw of 43.78 meters. For the women Jessica Dowdy placed eight in the hammer throw (37.89m). Despite finishing ninth in the heptathlon, Winter Bingham set a new school record, going with the trend of improving the same individual's record, with 3411 points.

Day two was also a qualifying day for the sprints. McLaughlin qualified for the 100 meter dash finals, while Maurika Quarles and Natasha Tyler will represent RU in the 100 hurdles and 200 dash respectively. On the men's side, Hash qualified for the 200 meter dash.
