Highlanders Place Sixth at Mason Invitational CENTERVILLE, Va. - Radford University women's cross country team traveled to George Mason University to compete in the Mason Invitational on Saturday. George Washington Colonels won the meet with 40 points while American took second with 59. Radford finished sixth out of the eight teams with 157 points. For Radford University, sophomore Maria Geary finished the 5k run in a time of 20:06.52 to place 13th just behind American's Julie Lynch, who finished in 20:02.26. RU sophomore Shannon Brown finished 20th and sophomore Daphne Prospt 23rd as they clocked in at 20:36.17 and 20:47.18 respectively. Other finishes for the Highlanders include freshman Jasselle Cruz with a time of 22:56.49 and sophomores Cait Edmonson and Liz Banks at 23:15.72 and 24:27.14 respectively. In the eight team race, Virginia Commonwealth was third, with 82 points, followed by Howard, with 97, James Madison with 125, Radford with 157, George Mason with 171 and Maryland with 208. The Highlander's will head to Blacksburg, Va. on Saturday Oct. 9 to run in the Virginia Tech Invitational. |
