George Mason Edges Highlanders

FAIRFAX, Va. --George Mason's women's tennis team won three singles matches and captured the doubles point to edge Radford, 4-3 on Friday afternoon. RU falls to 5-14 overall after the non-Conference loss.

GMU won all three doubles matches for the first point of the day. Mason's Andreea Fusea and Maricel Ballester, beat Daniela Milano and Ashton Downs, 8-4. Jenn Dektas and Jamie Delorie won 8-2 against Camila Noldin and Caroline Downs. The Patriots' Katie Sloper and Julia Moscato played Cassandra Price and Jessica Nixon, and came out with a 8-3 win.

The two teams split the singles matches with Radford winning the No. 2, 4 and 5 positions. Andreea Fusea won 6-1, 6-1 against Noldin at the top singles spot. Carolina Downs won the #2 match for RU, defeating Ballester 6-4, 6-4. Jenn Dektas picked up a 6-1, 6-0 victory against Milano while Ashton Downs beat Delorie, 6-3, 6-3. Price got past Sloper 6-2, 4-6, 0-1 in the Highlanders last win of the day. Moscato defeated Nixon, 6-2, 6-3 in the sixth spot.

Radford's women's team will head to High Point on Monday, April 10 to face the Panthers at 1 pm.
