Highlanders Drop Close Affair with Charleston Southern, 4-3

Radford, Va. -- Radford's women's tennis team fell in a close match with Charleston Southern, 4-3, this afternoon from the Dedmon Center Courts. The Highlanders fall to 4-13 overall and 0-5 in the Big South, while the Lady Buccaneers improve to 10-10, 4-3 in the Conference.

The Lady Bucs opened with a sweep in doubles to take the early 1-0 lead. They would then take three of the six singles matches to edge out the Highlanders. For Radford, Caroline Downs (Radford, Va.) and Jessica Nixon (Leesburg, Va.) cruised to straight set victories at No. 3 and No. 6 singles. Also, freshman Cassandra Price (Deland, Fla.) posted a three-set victory over Jessica Baur at No. 5.

The Highlanders will host Liberty tomorrow at 3 pm.
