Swimming and Diving Split Tri-Meet, Defeats Canisius 124-60, Falls to ODU 120-84 LEXINGTON, Va. - The Radford University Swimming and Diving team defeated Canisius 124-60, while falling to ODU 120-84 in a tri-meet at Cocke Hall Pool. The Highlanders latched on to eight victories and 13 individual top-five finishes against Canisius. Julie Brooks won both the 200 IM (2:12.87) and the 100 back (1:02.12), while helping the 200 medley relay team to a first place finish with a time of 1:56.23. Kyndal Spradlin, Raven Wray and Julia Bailey were also part of the 200 medley relay team. Jenny Biles won the 1000 free with a time of 11:08.19, while teammate Kristan Deckert placed second (11:11.75). Amy Wharen, Carlye Green and Randi Faircloth round out the top three spots in the 200 free with times of 2:03.60, 2:10.07 and 2:10.19 respectively. Faircloth also picked up third in the 100 fly with a time of 1:06.82. Wray finished first (1:03.22) in the 100 fly, while teammate Shauna Bolger came in second (1:04.19) in the event. Julie Bailey placed first in the 50 free with a time of 26.03, while teammates Libby Heeschen and Amy Ferry picked up second (26:19) and third (27.84) respectively in the event. In the 100 free Heeschen placed first with a time of 57.66. Stacie Bliss picked up second (58.69) in the event and Ferry picked up her second third place finish on the day with a time of 59.60. Rounding out the 200 IM event was Spradlin and Laura LeCroy who placed second (2:18.05) and third (2:20.79) respectively. Other finishes include Maggie Parker and Krista Menkedick who finished second (1:06.55) and third (1:08.34) respectively in the 100 back. Against ODU, the Highlanders had one individual victory and one relay victory. Taking first in the 200 IM was Julie Brooks with at time of 2:12.87. She was also a member of the 200 medley relay team that took first with at time of 1:56.23. She also had a second place finish in the 100 back with a time of 1:02.12. Bliss and Deckert placed second (11:08.14) and third (11:11.93) respectively in the 1000 free. Spradlin had two second place finishes in the 200 IM and the 100 breast. Bolger placed third in the event with a time of 1:12.37. Other third place finishes on the day include Amy Sutton in the 500 free, Parker in the 100 back and Faircloth in the 200 free. Green finished with second in the 200 free with a time of 2:10.07. In the 50 free Bailey claimed second with a time of 26:03. The Highlanders will host North Carolina A&T on Oct. 29 at 4 p.m. at the Dedmon Center Natatorium. |
