Highlanders Win Second Straight Swim Meet
RADFORD, Va. - The Swimming and Diving Squad won their second straight swim meet Saturday afternoon at the Dedmon Center Natatorium. The Highlanders finished up with 124 points, while the Campbell Camels tallied 77 points.
In the first event of the afternoon Kyndal Spradlin and Laura LeCroy took first and second in the 1000 free respectively. Spradlin was clocked at 11:39.30 and LeCroy came in at 11:47.46. Campbell’s Kristin Thomas notched third in the event with 11:59.90. Radford placed five more victories on the day. Amy Wharen won the 200 free with a time of 2:03.84, while teammate Julie Bailey won the 50 free with a time of 26.76. Other firsts include Julie Brooks in the 200 IM (2:13.49), Maggie Parker in the 100 free (59.55) and Lindsey LeCroy in the 100 breaststroke. Campbell won three events with Kristin Thomas in the 100 backstroke (1:06.44), Katie Conely in the 500 free and Heather Seals in the 100 butterfly (1:09.08). In the 50 free RU's Amy Ferry grabbed second (27.35) and May Wilmot placed third (28.05). Other finishes for the Highlanders include Shauna Bolger and Raven Wray who placed second in the 200 IM (2:24.28) and the 100 backstroke (1:07.99) respectively. The Highlanders will travel to Wingate, N.C. on Nov. 13 as they compete in a tri-meet against NEC opponent Gardner-Webb and Wingate. |
