Highlander Golf Finishes 17th at Sea Trial Intercollegiate

SEA TRAIL, N.C.-- Radford’s men’s and women’s golf teams each finished 17th at the Sea Trail Intercollegiate, which concluded Sunday at Sea Trail Resort. The men finished tied with The Citadel with a two-day total of 629. The women finished with a 685.

Meredith Roberts paced RU’s women’s team, finishing with a 161 (76-85) to tie for 19th overall. Keri Reilly finished tied for 60th overall with a 171 (88-83). Tiana Patirrne scored a 178 (92-86) to finish tied for 80th. Stacy Brewer and Dana Doganes closed out the scoring for RU, finishing with a 179 (87-92) and a 180 (91-89) respectively.

Longwood won the women’s event, shooting a 624 over the two day tournament. High Point and Winthrop were the other Big South teams involved, with the panthers finishing ninth and Winthrop tying for 11th.

The Highlanders’ top men’s finisher was Aaron Summers, who tied for 48th overall with a 154 (77-77). Hampton Ballard finished with a 158 (75-83) to tie for 71st. Chris Bagg tied for 76th overall with a 159 (79-80). Griffith Hunter scored a 160 (80-80) to tie for 79th overall and Chris Gentile tallied a 162 (81-81) to finish tied for 87th overall and round out the RU finishers.

Rutgers won the men’s tournament, which was played on the Jones Course. Liberty (tied-seventh) and High Point (16th) were the other Big South schools involved.

Radford’s women will be back in action Oct. 10-12 at the Wofford Tournament at the Carolina Country Club in Spartanburg, S.C. The men will hit the links again Oct. 17-19 at Signal Mountain Golf Club in Signal Mountain, Tenn. For the UT-Chattanooga Tournament.
