Former Radford Golfer George Competes On LPGA Tour RADFORD, Va.-- Former Radford University standout women’s golfer Stephanie George, who earned non-exempt status for the 2005 LPGA Tour last year, has competed in her first LPGA Event, making her the first Radford women’s golfer to compete in an LPGA tournament. George shot an 307 (76-75-75-81) to tie for 71st in the Corona Morelia Championship, played at Tres Marias Residential Golf Club in Michoacan, Mexico. George played on the Futures Tour in 2004, where she tied for 37th at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn non-exempt status for the 2005 LPGA Tour season. She recorded five top-10 finishes in 2004, including a season-best tie for second at the Michelob Light Futures Charity Golf Classic. George is also in the field for this weekend’s Sybase Classic, which will be played at Wykagyl Country Club in New Rochelle, N.Y. The Myerstown, Pa. native played for Radford from 1997 to 2001. She placed in the top-10 19 times during her senior year, including a win at the 2001 Big South Conference Championship. George was named Big South Conference Player of the Year for her finish that year. |
