Women's Golf Posts First Tournament Win in School History RESTON, Va. - The Radford University Women’s Golf Team picked up its first-ever tournament win Sunday by capturing the Hoya Women’s Invitational, played at the Reston Golf Club Saturday and Sunday. The Highlanders posted a two-day total of 650, tallying the lowest round in the field on both days (320-330). Radford beat Boston College by three strokes, and was 11 strokes ahead of host Georgetown. Senior Laura Terebey took second place in the tournament, shooting a 157 (77-80). She was eight strokes behind medalist Celine Herbin of Bucknell, who shot a 149. RU sophomore Dana Doganes (85-82) and junior Meredith Roberts (87-80) both tied for 13th, shooting a 167. Stacy Brewer finished tied for 17th overall, scoring a (77-91) 168, while Keri Reilley was tied for 21st to round out the Radford scoring. Bucknell was the only other Big South school competing in the tournament. The Bison, an associate member of the League in women’s golf, finished seventh overall with a 671. The Highlanders will compete next at the Richmond Invitational in Richmond April 1-4. |
