Radford Finishes Fifth At Big South Tournament

GREENWOOD, S.C. - Radford women’s golf finished in fifth place at the P.U.P.S. big South Conference Championship, which concluded Wednesday at Greenwood Country Club. Senior Laura Terebey, who was named the Big South’s Scholar-Athlete for women’s golf on Tuesday, finished tied for fourth to lead the Highlanders.

Terebey, who was also named to the All-Conference team, shot a 233 (75-79-79) to lead the Highlanders to the fifth place finish. Sophomore Dana Doganes (85-81-86) and junior Keri Reilley (87-83-82) each carded a 252 to tie for 23rd overall and finish second for Radford. Sophomore Stacy Brewer shot a 258 (88-83-87) to place fourth for the Highlanders and 32nd overall. Junior Meredith Roberts (88-91-85) rounded out the RU finishers with a 264, good for 37th overall.

The Highlanders finished two strokes in front of associate Big South member Bucknell, who placed sixth. UNC Wilmington, also and associate member for women’s golf won the championship with a three-day total of 935 (326-306-303). The Seahawks’ Becky Berzonski took medalist honors with a 217 (73-69-75) to lead UNCW to the title and the automatic berth to the NCAA Championships.

The Big South Tournament was the Highlanders’ final event of the season, during which they claimed the first tournament win in school history. RU earned a victory in the Hoya Women’s Invitational on March 21st.
