Darden Earns Fourth Freshman of the Week Honor

Radford, Va. . -For the fourth time this season, Radford freshman center Kelli Darden (Chesapeake, Va.) was honored as Big South Freshman of the Week, announced the Conference office.

Darden averaged 9.5 points, four rebounds, while shooting .545 percent from the floor in two games last week for the Highlanders. She recorded a team-high 13 points on 4-of-5 shooting, to go along with seven rebounds and three blocks vs. High Point. Darden then added six points, a rebound and a steal against Liberty.

This season, Darden has averaged 5.5 points, 3.8 rebounds and two blocks per game. She has recorded 53 blocks this season, third highest in a single season at Radford and the most since the 1994-95 season.

Radford (12-15, 6-8), the sixth seed in the Advanced Auto Parts Big South Tournament, will travel to third-seeded UNC Asheville on Tuesday, March 8. Tip off from the Justice Center is scheduled for 7 pm.
