Causey Garners Second Team All-Virginia Honors

Radford, Va. . -Radford senior Taryn Causey (Collierville, Tenn.) was named to the 2004-05 VaSID Division I Women’s Basketball Second Team. She was one on nine first-timers named to the first and second teams.

Causey averaged a team best 14.5 points, 4.1 assists and 3.1 steals per game. She also led the Highlanders in free throw percentage (86.4) and three-point percentage (36.3). Her free throw percentage tied her with Tammie Crown for the highest single-season percentage, the best percentage since 1992-93. She also set the career free throw percentage record at RU, shooting .856 (261-305), breaking Crown’s 11-season mark of .840 (279-332).

The First Team All-Big South selection, finished the season ranked in the top five in seven Big South categories, including a League best in free throw percentage, steals and assists. She netted 20+ points in six games and was ranked 16th and 22nd in the nation in free throw percentage and steals respectively.

She finished her two-year stint at Radford with 730 points (12.8 ppg), 239 assists (4.2 apg) 171 steals (3.0 spg), 77 three-point field goals and 261 free throws, ranking 30th, ninth, eighth, tied for seventh and ninth respectively all-time as a Highlander. Over her four-year basketball career (first two years at North Alabama), she recorded 1,465 points, 419 assists and 295 steals.
