Radford Volleyball Drops Non-Conference Match To ETSU

RADFORD, Va.--East Tennessee State had three players register double-digit kills en route to a 3-0 non-conference win over Radford volleyball Tuesday night at the Dedmon Center. (Box Score)

Freshman Callie Kiselich (Colorado Springs, Colo.) and junior Sara Scandiffio (Purcellville, Va.) each had 13 kills to lead ETSU. Sophomore Jennifer Sartor (Toronto, Canada) also registered 11 kills and 10 digs to help the Buccaneers win 30-27, 30-25, 31-29 to improve to 5-20 overall.

All three matches were close, with both teams trading points throughout. ETSU was able to finish each match to earn the three-game victory and drop RU to 3-20.

RU junior Divona Cox (Virginia Beach, Va.) led all hitters with 15 kills, hitting at a .412 clip. She was joined by senior Tiffany Guthrie (Littleton, Colo.) who tallied 11 kills and hit .364. Freshman Josie Hanners (Richmond, Va.) had 32 assists and 12 digs. Senior Kate McHugh (North Branford, Conn.) had 11 digs. Guthrie and junior Christine German (Virginia Beach, Va.) each had three blocks. German also hit .667 to lead RU.

Sophomore Andrea Piercy (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) and senior Karen Freeburg (New Castle, Ind.) had 15 and 12 digs respectively for the Bucs. Sophomore Brittany Kessel (Libertyville, Ill.) had 11 digs and Scandiffio tallied three service aces.

Radford returns to Conference play Friday, hitting the road to face Coastal Carolina at 7:00 pm. East Tennessee State will play at Southern Conference foe Chattanooga at 7:00 pm on Saturday.
