Highlander Volleyball Drops Match To Charlotte

RADFORD, Va.--Junior outside hitter Abbey Szlanfucht had 16 kills and 13 digs to lead Charlotte to a 3-1 win over non-conference opponent Radford at Halton Arena on Tuesday night. (Box Score)

The Highlanders were paced by junior Divona Cox, who tallied eight kills. Senior Kate McHugh and junior Elizabeth Aldredge paced the defense with 13 and 10 digs respectively. Senior Tiffany Guthrie had six blocks and freshman setter Josie Hanners had 21 assists.

Charlotte sophomore Jessica Oldenburg had 13 kills, while Alma Arroyo added 11, as Charlotte improved to 16-8 on the season by scores of 30-21, 25-30, 30-17, and 30-14.

Charlotte ran its non-conference record to 14-4. Radford (3-16) pulled to within 20-16, only to see the Niners stretch the lead with a 10-5 run to end the first.

Charlotte totaled 17 service aces in the match, the team’s third-highest total of the season. The Niners were ranked fourth among the national leaders in service aces per game heading into the match.
