Volleyball Snaps Losing Streak HIGH POINT, N.C.--Radford volleyball snapped its 12-match losing streak with a 3-0 win over Savannah State Saturday night at High Point University’s Millis Center. RU lost 0-3 earlier in the day to High Point in a Big South Conference match. (Savannah State Box Score) (High Point Box Score) RU improved to 3-13 overall after winning the Savannah State match 30-13, 30-18, 30-16. The Highs fell to 0-5 in the Big South following the High Point match. The Highlanders place senior Tiffany Guthrie and junior Divona Cox in double-digit kills. Guthrie led the team with 13 while Cox had 10 kills and three blocks. Sophomore Jennifer Fritz had 10 digs and freshman setter Josie Hanners tallied 42 assists in the victory. Savannah State was paced by Satin Kinsey and Donna Jenkins, each of whom had seven kills. High Point won its fifth-straight match with the win over Radford earlier in the day. The Panthers downed the Highlanders, 30-19, 30-22, 30-28 to improve to 13-9 (4-2 in Big South play). Lindsey Pickens led the Panthers with 13 kills, while Michelle Feiser provided 25 assists, Kim Anderson added 12 digs, and Jamie Kaufman provided eight kills and nine service aces. Radford got eight kills apiece from Cox and Kate McHugh, 10 digs from Bliss Mulligan and 24 assists and six digs from Hanners. Cox added six blocks, while Elizabeth Aldredge provided five blocks. The Highlanders return to action Tuesday when they face Big South rival Liberty in Lynchburg, Va. at 7:00 pm. |
