Winthrop Upends Radford Volleyball ROCK HILL, S.C.--Tori Grafeman had 11 kills and Mary Hock had 10 to lead the Winthrop volleyball team to a 3-0 victory over Radford for its eighth straight victory at home, Friday night at the Winthrop Coliseum. (Box Score) Winthrop improved to 16-2 overall and 5-0 in the Big South Conference. Radford fell to 2-12 overall and 0-4 in the conference. The loss was the Highlanders' 11th straight. Grafeman got off to a hot start in game one with seven kills and Hock had three service aces, giving Winthrop a 30-18 win. The Eagles hit .344 to take the game 30-15. Winthrop wrapped up the match with a 30-20 win in game three. Junior Divona Cox and senior Tiffany Guthrie each had eight kills to lead RU. Freshman Josie Hanners recorded 19 assists. Senior Bliss Mulligan paced the RU defense with 10 digs. Guthrie also had four blocks. Hock finished the match with four service aces and 12 digs. Sarah Mae Billingsley led defensively with 16 digs, her 17th double-digit dig performance of the season. Sitzmann nearly had double-digits in kills with nine. RU heads north to face High Point and Savannah State tomorrow at 2: 00 pm and 5:00 pm respectively. Winthrop will remain at home as it faces conference foe Liberty on Saturday at 2:00 pm |
