Highs Defeat Virginia Intermont

RADFORD, Va. --Radford men’s tennis defeated Virginia Intermont in a score of 5-2 on Friday afternoon. The Highlanders improve to 11-6 overall.

The Highlanders won two of three doubles and five of seven singles matches. Senior Joakim Arhammar (Sollentuna, Sweden) won a tie breaker in No. 4 singles match over David Halldorsson (4-6, 6-1, 3-3 (14)). Brandon Johnson (Roanoke, Va./American School), Robel Mengisteab (Kista, sweden/Mobila Gym) and Dominic Soueur (Herndon, Va./Herndon HS) won at No. 3, 5 and 6 singles matches respectively.

In the doubles matches RU’s No. 2 team of Arhammar and Mengisteab defeated Halldorsson and Arturo Hernandez in a score of 8-4. In the No. 3 doubles match RU’s Johnson and Soeur won their match defeating Pierce and Kosicky, 8-2.

The Highlanders will be back on the courts April 9th at 10 a.m. to take on the visiting James Madison Dukes.
