Lloyd Named Big South Freshman of the Year

ROCK HILL, S.C. --Radford's James Lloyd (Cobham, Surrey, England) was named Big South Men's Tennis Freshman of the Year by the League's head coaches and sports information directors announced at the Big South's Annual Tennis Banquet held at Winthrop University Wednesday evening.

Radford’s No. 1 singles player was also named to the All-Conference team, going 5-1 in Big South matches and 9-7 overall this season. He becomes the second Highlander to freshman honors. Bartlo Oosthuizen garnered the award in 1999.

Also representing Radford were sophomore Arthur Vasarevic (Zagreb, Croatia) and junior Caroline Downs (Radford, Va.) on the Big South All-Academic team.

The fifth-seeded men's team will face four-seeded UNC-Asheville at 11:30 am, while the seventh-seeded women’s team will take on second-seeded Coastal Carolina at 2 pm on Thursday, April 14.
