Smith Announces 2004 Men's Soccer Schedule

RADFORD, Va. - Radford University Men’s Soccer Coach Spencer Smith today announced the 2004 Highlander men’s soccer schedule. RU will host 11 home matches this season, including three exhibitions, non-Conference games versus Charlotte, George Washington, Furman and Virginia Tech, and the Big South Conference slate. The Highlanders will begin with three exhibition matches versus King College, James Madison and UNC Greensboro on Aug. 18, 21 and 25 respectively. RU will open the regular season on Sept. 1 at Elon. Home games against Charlotte on Sept. 4 and George Washington on Sept. 11 follow. Radford begins Big South play Sept. 15 at UNC Asheville and then heads to VMI on Sept. 22.

RU and neighboring Virginia Tech renew their annual battle for the coveted New River Rock on Sept 25th at Radford.

After games at Longwood (Sept. 28) and Birmingham-Southern (Oct. 2), the Highlanders will host defending Big South champion Coastal Carolina on Oct. 6. RU faces High Point on Oct. 9 as part of the university’s homecoming celebrations, and Winthrop Oct. 13 at home.

Trips to George Mason (Oct. 17) and Appalachian State (Oct. 20) precede RU’s final Big South match of the regular season at home against arch-rival Liberty. After a Halloween trip to Marshall, Radford will close out the regular season by hosting Furman on Nov. 6

Radford will begin play in the Big South Tournament on Nov. 11 at Birmingham-Southern in Birmingham, Ala. The winner of the Big South Championship will again earn an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
