Sokolik, Snell, Colas Earn
All-Conference Awards
Smith, Rowe, Harpula Also Honored by the Big South

RADFORD, Va. - Radford Men's Soccer players Erik Sokolik (Scottsdale, Ariz.), Adrian Snell (Hagerstown, Md.) and Patrick Colas (Rennes, France) were named Second Team All-Conference by the Big South on Wednesday night at the League's annual Men's Soccer Awards Banquet.

David Harpula (Kingsport, Tenn.) was named to the All-Academic Team while Taylor Rowe (Clemson, S.C.) and Jonathan Smith (Virginia Beach, Va.) both earned All-Freshman honors.

The Highlanders finished with a 2-4-1 Conference record and will be the seventh seed for the Big South Tournament. Radford will face second-seeded Birmingham-Southern, whom they tied last Sunday 3-3.

Coastal Carolina forward Joseph Ngwenya and coach Shaun Docking were named Player of the Year and Coach of the Year, respectively, for the second year in a row. Docking led his team to a 6-1 League mark and a 15-2 overall record during the regular season. This marks the fourth time Docking has won the award, capturing his first in 1997 as the coach of Charleston Southern, and then again in 2000 and 2002 as coach at Coastal Carolina. Ngwenya is the nation’s leading scorer at 2.5 points per game. Ngwenya was also named the League’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year for the second straight season, while VMI’s Charles Nweke earned Freshman of the Year honors.

The awards banquet serves as the kick off for the 2003 Men’s Soccer Championship. The first round games begin at Radford Thursday at 12 p.m. in Patrick D. Cupp Memorial Stadium. Semifinals will be played Friday, beginning at 4:00 p.m. The title match is slated for Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

Every match of the championship will be StatCast on the Big South’s website at www.BigSouthSports.com. This will allow fans to follow the games online through a real time display of the score and statistics as they happen.
