Taking over the men’s golf program this season is former Radford University men’s golf player and 1992 graduate Greg Sayers. Sayers, 30, takes over the Highlander program from Dr. Steve Ames, who retired after guiding the Highlanders for the last 16-years.
A Marion, VA native, now serves as the head professional at the Draper Valley Golf Club in Pulaski County, a post he has held for the last six years. Sayers was the first RU men’s golf player to capture the Virginia State title, capturing medallist honors at the 1990 Virginia Intercollegiate.
A two time all-Big South Conference selection in 1990 and 1991, Sayers is known as one of southwest Virginia’s top teaching professionals. A member of the PGA of America, Sayers played on the Nike/Buy.com Tour in 1998.
Greg is single and resides in Wytheville, VA.
