Highlanders Sweep Weekly NorPac Honors

Radford, Va. -- Radford swept the weekly NorPac awards after winning its final three games of the season. Juniors Hope Bates (Haddam, Conn.) and Amy Dietz (Louisville, Ky.) were named Offense and Defensive Players of the Week respectively with freshman Emily Jones (Williamsburg, Va.) namedHope Bates (Foto International) Rookie of the Week. All three players were instrumental in the Highlander successful week as they clinched the NorPac East Division Title and finished the season undefeated (6-0) in Conference play.

Bates scored both goals in Radford’s 2-1 victory over Saint Louis on Oct. 26 helping the Highlanders clinch the East Division title. She then delivered the assist on wAmy Dietz (Foto International)hat proved to be the game-winning goal in Radford’s 2-0 victory over Davidson giving them a perfect 6-0 record in the NorPac East.

Dietz recorded a pair of shutouts in NorPac games this week as she shut down Saint Louis 1-0 on Oct. 25 and Davidson, 2-0 on Oct. 31st. In three contests, she allowed just one goal, while facing 22 shots. She made eight saves and posted a .889 save percentage.

Jones was a key part of the Highlanders’ defense, which allowed just one goal in three games this wEmily Jones (Foto International)eek. RU allowed just 22 shots over those three games, including just four in games against Saint Louis on Oct. 25 and Davidson.

Radford will head to the NorPac Tournament in Davidson, N.C. from Nov. 4-6. The Highlanders, who are the No.1 seed in the East, will face the No. 4 seed out of the West, Stanford at 4 p.m.
