Virginia Tech Too Much for Radford, 7-1 in Baseball

RADFORD, Va. - - Virginia Tech scored three runs in the first, two in the second and single runs in the third and seventh innings to down Radford University 7-1 in baseball action for the Dedmon Center Park Monday afternoon. (Box Score)

Joe English and Wyatt Toregas each collected a pair of hits to pace the Hokie attack. Spencer Harris belted a three run homer in the second to account for all three Virginia Tech runs in that frame. Shawn Abell went two-for three for the Highlanders. Kellan Wolhford added a pinch-hit triple in the eighth.

Jed Saunders impressed for Virginia Tech tossing five innings of four hit, seven-strikeout ball to improve to 4-0 on the season. Justin Tubb fell to 1-3 in his freshman campaign allowing five runs, four of which were earned, on six hits in 1.2 innings.

The Highlanders will next host VMI on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m.
