The Zurich
James Joyce Foundation is among the best research centers for Joyce scholars.
It houses the widest variety of resources on Joyce and Joyce/Ireland related
matters, sponsors a variety of Joycean events, and it hosts annual AUGUST
WORKSHOPS devoted to James Joyce, attracting scholars from around the world and
providing focused exchanges on focused Joyce-related topics. Between
1992 and 2002, I had the honor to participate in five of them--highly demanding,
but highly rewarding work.
